In a few weeks, this site will be re-designed and relaunched with a new focus on rich media and entertainment. Most of all, we aim to do awesome events and parties, the best in London. The Chutney brand will expand into new properties - mychutney.com (like myspace for musicians and DJ's) and chutneytickets.com (a box office for our events and gigs by mychutney artists).

Watch this space in the coming weeks as we slowly get back on track and explode into summer!

Shahrukh - Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?

A question that Shahrukh is going to ask, but not answer.

Shahrukh is coming back on Star Plus to host the new realty TV game show named Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? (Are You smarter than a 5th grader?). The show will have adult contestants testing their IQs with 10 year old smarties. The prize money for the new show is 5 crores ($1.25 million), much more than the prize money (2 crores) in Shahrukh's last show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

This will be a mega show and Shahrukh is claiming to achieve something good hosting the show.

This year I have pledged to do something for children. Hosting 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain' is an effort in this direction. The aim is to do something that is not only enetrtaining but also educative.

Munnabhai's third attempt

Munnabhai, alias Sanjay Dutt (or rather the other way around) got married recently (for the third time) with his girlfriend of several years, Manyata.

The wedding was a surprise to Sanju's family and his own 19 year old daughter Trishala learned about it on television.

Well we just want to congratulate you Munnabhai and wish you good luck!

And some words of wisdom from Munnabhai on the eve of Valentine's Day:

It had to happen, didn’t it? The extension of love is always marriage. I’d said earlier and will say it again, every man at the end of the day, wants to come back home to somebody, and today I am glad to have found that somebody.

More remakes set for this year

This is my 2nd blog about remakes, out of a total of only 3 blogs, but I assure you I'm not obsessed with this one topic!

I found myself having to write something here though, after finding out that Aamir Khan is set to film the remake of the Telugu language movie 'Ghajini' this year. The movie itself is a remake of Christopher Nolan's modern film noir, 'Memento'.

Aamir Khan is one of the few actors in India who takes risks with his movies, and he usually comes out with something fresh every year; it's a shame, then, to see him star in a film that's been made twice before.

If that's not bad enough, Salman Khan's new movie 'God Tussi Great Ho' (set to release next month) is the Indian version of 'Bruce Almighty'. Khan reprises the role of Jim Carrey's "Bruce" character, while Amitabh Bachchan plays "God". Although both seem suited to these roles, the film itself seems a little cringeworthy.

With these 2 movies being amongst the most eagerly awaited of the year (and likely to be one amongst the highest grossers of the year), it seems nothing has changed since '07. Remakes still seem to be the way to go. As of now, I resign on this topic and just hope that Indian films - whether remakes or not - continue to entertain.

No place for Shahrukh in Hollywood

Mr Khan, currently in Germany for the Berlin Film Festival, believes he belongs in Bollywood...and nowhere else.

"There is no place for me in Hollywood or in European cinema. I would like to continue to work in India and to take the Indian cinema to the outside world," said Khan at a press conference.

Attending the festival for the world premier of 'Om Shanti Om' (which, by the way, received much applause and praise at the festival), Shahrukh reckons he could bridge the gap between eastern and western films. "I may be someone to bind Europe and India through films," he says.

Well, Shahrukh, we hope you're right because we at Bollywood Chutney love Indian films and want Bollywood-ignorant folks to know what they've been missing out on all this time!

Models Launch Party

We were there last night - at the South Asian Super Model Awards Launch party. It was a really fun night, and we've started developing the second side of the chutney - called mychutney.com (nothing there yet!). This will be like myspace, and give models, musicians, and any kind of artist a space to promote themselves! Watch this space while we iron out things. We will also actively help people get noticed, get paid gigs, and so on - so it will be better than myspace ;-)
